Winter-Spring 2021 Training Update
Ridgewood Crew will be offering training programs in two parts (“Land Training”, followed by the “Water Training”). The Land Training session will begin on January 11 and will run until February 27 (or March 5, depending on weather). Attendance at Land Training is encouraged but is not mandatory. As of this date, Governor Murphy’s latest order will allow us to resume in-person training at the beginning of January. But as we have come to learn, Covid-19 mandates are subject to change. Accordingly, the weekly schedule of the Land Training session will be flexible.
As long as we are permitted to do in-person training, we will offer a hybrid (in-person/virtual) training session 3 days/week from Jan 11 through Jan 29. When in-person training is prohibited, we will be all virtual (3 days/week). From Feb 1 through Feb 27 (or March 5) we will offer a hybrid (in-person/virtual) training session 4 days/week. The Development Team will practice 2 days/week (Jan – Feb).
Notification will be provided to the team the first week of January regarding the training schedule beginning January 11. All in-person training will be held at the Old Paramus Reformed Church at 660 East Glen Ave. in Ridgewood. The fees for the Land Training session will be $500 for the Girls or Boys HS Rowers and $300 for the Development Team. To sign up for the Land Training Session please fill out this Land Training Signup Form. Ergs will be collected once in-person training commences. Erg rentals may not be available.
During the last week of February, we plan to hold try outs, at which time the usual forms and 1st fee payment will be due. After the team is selected and announced, the Water Training will commence. Attendance at the Water Training is mandatory. The fee for the Water Training session will be determined later and based on information received regarding the spring regatta season. Please note if we are notified early in 2021 that regattas will be scheduled as in previous years we may elect to hold tryouts earlier than the end of Feb.
We know all coaches, rowers, and families are eager to begin the spring training and regatta season. We anticipate being notified in January by regatta sponsors about the plan for the spring regatta season. We are hopeful that there will be a regatta season, but it may be modified in some way due to the current pandemic. Based on a return to water practice beginning in early March and a return to regatta competition, RC’s first regatta may be end of March.
We will provide updates and training plan modifications as soon as we become aware of any changes to the spring season, and we continue to ask for your patience during this time of uncertainty. Please reach out to any Board Member if you have any questions or concernsOur 2020-21 Pre-Winter and Winter training programs will be held at the Old Paramus Reformed Church, located at 660 E Glen Ave in Ridgewood. We will adhere to Ning to a summer program. Please see the links below for Summer 2020 schedule and signups, plus all the information and protocols for participating in the summer program.
