Development Team
Registration is complete for the Spring 2024 Development team.
We are accepting registrations for the Summer 2024 Learn to Row (LTR). The LTR is 2 sessions (8 hour total) with athletes learning on the water at the PRRA Boathouse in Lyndhurst, NJ. Upon completion of the LTR, athletes can optionally sign up for a 6-session (12 hour total) Novice program in July. Details are included in the registration form linked above.
Athletes must be attending Ridgewood Public Schools to train with Ridgewood Crew. No experience is necessary and athletes begin as early as the summer before 7th grade. Some athletes change sports in high school and only begin Crew in 10th or 11th grade! It is never to late to try Crew.
The Development Team (DT) consists of middle school students and high school students who cannot commit to the competitive HS team practice schedule or need additional practice based on performance at the HS Tryout. There is no mandatory attendance for the DT. The DT schedule generally is:
Typically, RHS grade 9 students are on the DT for the Fall and Winter, then transition to the High School competitive team after tryouts the first week of January.
In addition to this registration form, rowers need to submit physical clearance and permission slip forms 2 weeks before the first practice session.

- Winter (Nov-Dec) Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1 hour per day at RHS indoors (ERG)
- Spring (Jan-mid March) Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1 hour per day at RHS indoors (ERG)
- Spring (mid March- mid May) Saturday & Sunday 2 hours per day on the water at PRRA
- Summer (mid June - July) Monday - Friday 2 hours per day on the water at PRRA
